Welcome. My name is Raewyn Stewart and I am a rag quilt designer from Invercargill, New Zealand. Rag quilts aren’t common here, so my introduction to them came through making my own.
In 2021, after a lot of trial and error, I developed a new approach to rag quilt construction. It created a soft puffy seam that gives the illusion of one seam flowing over another at the intersections. This became known as the Caterpillar seam. Together with my signature inlay method and the Rosette seam, it has helped spark a fresh wave of interest in the rag quilting craft.
My tutorials are available in my Etsy shop, Candlewick and Roses. This site also hosts tutorials for my daughter’s Etsy shop, Rag Quilt Tutorials. Another daughter, Meg, sells her designs through her Etsy shop, Meggie and Mum.
